About This Product

■What is the difference between membrane elements for sanitary use and general use?

・Limitations of common membrane elements In applications that require sanitary properties such as food and pharmaceuticals, the absence of liquid accumulation within the membrane module is a very important factor. However, in the case of membrane modules that use general brine seals, concentrated water accumulates in unnecessary gaps between the inner wall of the housing and the outside of the membrane module.

■What is the membrane element that uses DURASAN outer wrap?

The element utilizes the DURASAN outer wrap, which is made of a sturdy net-like plastic with high dimensional accuracy and was developed and patented by SUEZ (France) (formerly GE Water Technologies of the United States), to control the flow on the inner wall of the housing and the outside of the membrane module. At the same time, it is designed to fit tightly against the inner wall of the housing without a brine seal. This prevents concentrated water from accumulating on the inner wall of the housing and the outside of the membrane module in applications that require sanitary properties such as food and pharmaceutical products.

■What are the advantages of membrane elements that use DURASAN outer wrap?

・Elimination of unnecessary gaps (sanitary design with no brine seal) By controlling the flow outside the element, unnecessary gaps that can cause microbial adhesion and growth are eliminated (5-10% of the supply water flows around the outside of the element). ・Improved sterilization and cleaning (CIP) effectiveness Durasan sleeves provide complete cleaning and sterilization, making them ideal for CIP sanitary systems etc. ・Reduced rinsing time By suppressing the flow outside the element, the rinsing time for cleaning and sterilization is shortened. ・Low elution property No glass fiber or tape adhesives are used, so organic elution is minimal ・Easier element loading Durasan elements have extremely high dimensional accuracy, making it easy to load the element into the housing ・Lower pressure loss (between element/housing) Excellent heat and acid (low pH) resistance TOSK uses DURASAN to produce reverse osmosis membranes (RO) from France's SUEZ (formerly US GE Water Technologies), as well as nanofiltration membranes (NF), ultrafiltration membranes (UF), and microfiltration membranes (MF). We handle various types of spiral modules.
