About This Product

The power of the magnet rotates a Teflon-coated magnet called a rotor (stirrer) inside the container, stirring the liquid. Uses a strong neodymium magnet, is explosion-proof, and can handle up to high viscosity liquids.

■What is a magnetic stirrer?

A magnetic stirrer is a device that stirs liquid by rotating a Teflon-coated magnetic rod called a rotor (stirrer) inside a container (beaker or stainless steel) using magnetic force. In addition to magnetic stirrers, they are also called stirrers, magnetic stirrers, etc. There are various types and purposes, but in general, the strength of the magnet is a major factor in the price. General stirrers use ferrite magnets for their main body magnets instead of being cheap, and can be used to stir liquids with a low viscosity comparable to water. For this reason, in highly viscous liquids, the rotor (stirrer) will overcome the resistance of the liquid. Therefore, stirring high viscosity liquids requires a stirrer equipped with rare earth magnets such as neodymium magnets. A magnet's attracting force is called "magnetic force," and its strength is expressed in a unit called "Gauss." Magnets are graded according to this magnetic force, and the higher the Gaussian value, the more expensive the magnet. The quality of the magnet is also important for stable rotation.
