About This Product

■Stress measurement sensor for steel bars

This sensor uses magnetostriction to easily and inexpensively measure axial stress (tension) in cables, strands, etc. Suitable for tension management and maintenance monitoring of ground anchor cables and PC steel wires in prestressed concrete.

■Main features

・Measures stress directly, not strain. (Unrelated to cable stretch) - Can directly measure actual stress. -Can be installed not only at the fixing end but also at any position. ・Measurement is possible directly from above the coating. ・There is no need to paste or fix it to the structure. ・Excellent long-term durability.

■Applicable conditions for EM sensor

・The steel material must be calibrated (must not be an unknown steel material) - Installation space must be secured. ・There is no forced magnetic material (such as steel sheath) between the measurement target and the EM sensor. ・Must be in the air (not underwater) ・The measurement target is not corroded. ・Measurement frequency is not frequent (dynamic measurement is not possible)

■Measurement principle

Crystal changes and magnetic property changes in magnetic materials subjected to stress depend on the stress. If the magnetic permeability in the stress-free state is measured in advance, the current stress can be detected from the relationship between magnetic properties and stress. *When using an EM sensor, calibration is required to determine the calibration coefficient.

■Main application examples

・Steel structures (cable-stayed bridges, suspension bridges, steel girders, space structures) ・Concrete structure (out cable, inner cable, PC tendon, RC reinforcing bar) ・Earth structures (ground anchors, tie rods)
