About This Product

A screw with a washer pre-installed is also called a sems. Since the screw is rolled after the washer is assembled using a dedicated assembly machine, the washer will not come off the screw. Since it can be handled as a single component, it saves the time and effort of assembling the washer, and eliminates the hassle of forgetting to assemble or dropping the washer, improving work efficiency. Combinations can be selected depending on the purpose: one that incorporates only a flat washer (old JIS) (P=1), only a spring washer (P=2), or a flat washer and a spring washer (P=3, P=4). There is a wide variety of head shapes, including cap sems, trimmer sems, upset sems, and nape sems. The name "Sems" appears to come from the registered trademark of ITW (Illinois Tool Work), which developed and patented washer-mounted screws in the 1930s. We named it "SEMS" by adding the plural "S" to the string "SEM" that appears in the English phrase "pre-asSEMbled washers and screws" since they are generally bought in boxes.
