■Characteristics of safety coupling
Combines features of coupling and torque limiter, power transmission and overload
1.Wide torque range
Various torque settings are possible even with the same standard (size) depending on the type and quantity of coil springs and the amount of tightening of the adjustment nut.
2. Acceptance of misalignment such as eccentricity and declination (corresponds to coupling type)
By using a leaf spring, it is possible to accept misalignment such as eccentricity and declination between both shafts, which is not possible with general torque limiters.
3. Return to origin function
Due to the asymmetric ball-seat pocket processing, it can return to the origin after one revolution after idling.
4.Easy to adjust torque
Torque can be easily adjusted by displaying the adjustment nut and spring stroke amount.
5.Various options
Various combinations are possible depending on the relative object, such as coupling type and flange type. Optimal solution with both protection function.
■Operating principle
If a load exceeding the set torque is applied, the ball fixed to the V-pocket of the ball plate will detach from the V-pocket and push out the ball guide, causing idle rotation between the coupling part (flange part) and the hub. , mechanically shuts off the power.
■Sensor installation
- By installing a limit switch or proximity sensor at the bottom of the ball guide, the distance the guide will move when an overload occurs can be determined through the sensor. It can also be linked to a motor or power source to stop the power source.
- When installing the sensor, be sure to manually apply a load to the safety coupling and set it to idling to ensure that the sensor is sensing the ball guide position.
■Torque setting method
・Tighten the adjustment nut according to the markings on the hub, referring to the "Setting Torque Values by Spring Stroke Amount" document.
・The higher the tightening degree, the more the torque limiter slip torque will increase.
・The error between the torque setting value and the actual slip torque is within ±10%.
