■Precision rotating stage

PILine® stages are particularly suited for applications that require high-speed, high-precision positioning. When switched off, a self-locking drive keeps the stage mechanically stable in position. Therefore, energy consumption and heat generation are significantly reduced. These characteristics are useful in low duty cycle applications that are battery powered or heat sensitive. Axis position is measured by an encoder and an optical reference switch enables reliable and repeatable motion. The piezo motor drive principle and its electrical operation are inexpensive and customizable.

■PILine® Ultrasonic Piezo Motor

An integral part of the PILine® ultrasonic piezo motor is a piezo actuator that is preloaded against a movable guided runner via a coupling element. ・Piezoelectric ceramic actuators are excited by high-frequency AC voltage of 100 to 200kHz and vibrate ultrasonically. - The deformation of the actuator causes a periodic diagonal movement of the coupling element relative to the runner. -The feed created is a few nanometers per cycle. -High frequency brings high speed. - Preloading of the piezoceramic actuator against the runner ensures self-locking of the drive when stopped and switched off.

■High-precision position measurement using incremental linear encoder

- Non-contact optical encoder directly measures platform position with highest accuracy. ・Nonlinearity, mechanical play, and elastic deformation do not affect the measurement.

■Application field

Micromanipulation, automation, biotechnology, sample manipulation, sample positioning, optical metrology.
