About This Product

■Code Development Without Hardware

The Instruction Set Simulator allows you to develop and test application code without using target hardware. The Instruction Set Simulator is a feature built into PowerView and is freely available to anyone who owns a debug module. It is also available as a trial version for evaluation.

■The Same Debugging Experience as a Real Target

The Instruction Set Simulator perfectly complements our debug and trace tools. Built into PowerView, it provides the same look and feel as a real debugger connected to an actual target. You can debug application code, create statistics-based traces, analyze problems, and perform code coverage, all without a target. In this way, using the Instruction Set Simulator in place of development on real hardware enables a more efficient and less burdensome development process.

■Qualification of Simulator Use in Safety-Critical Projects

The TRACE32 TQSK (Tool Qualification Support Kit) helps qualify the Instruction Set Simulator as a useful tool for unit and integration testing. Tool qualification is usually required in safety-related projects. In such projects, it is important to test in conditions close to the target environment at an early stage. With the Instruction Set Simulator, you can run tests, perform PIL (Processor-In-The-Loop) testing, and measure code coverage without using development hardware.

■Peripheral Simulation for Driver Code Testing

Lauterbach provides the TRACE32 Simulator API for writing Peripheral Simulation Models (PSMs). A PSM contains the functions and registers of the physical modules supported by the processor, allowing simulation of any module and significantly enhancing the capabilities of the entire simulation environment.
