About This Product

■What is TAFTRBK?

TAFTRBK is a heat-resistant and UV-resistant black alumite treatment that will not crack or discolor even under high temperatures of 350℃ or in environments exposed to ultraviolet rays. Heat-resistant, UV-resistant matte black alumite (TAFTRSBK), which provides low reflectivity through pre-treatment, is also available. Performance can be improved by changing from conventional surface treatment to TAFTRBK. Recently, an increasing number of major companies are actively researching and reviewing surface treatment technologies, and as the requirements for surface treatment become more and more diverse, it is expected that it will continue to be used in a variety of applications in the future as a cost-effective surface protective film that can be used even at high temperatures, replacing conventional surface treatments such as alumite treatment and high-cost vapor deposition.

■Differences from conventional films

When ordinary black alumite is heated or exposed to ultraviolet rays or sunlight for a long time, the dye in the fine pores of the film decomposes and becomes decolored. In addition to the color tone, the stress caused by the difference in linear thermal expansion coefficient with the base material can cause cracks and film loss, resulting in a loss of surface protection function. However, even when TAFTRBK is heat treated at 350℃, it not only does not change color or bleach, but also does not crack.

■Heat resistance/UV resistance

Normal black alumite treatment depends on the material and film thickness of the base material, but discoloration and cracks occur when heated to around 150°C, and when the temperature exceeds 250°C, the color completely discolors and the film may peel off completely. TAFTRBK can withstand heating tests of 350℃ and will not discolor or crack when exposed to sunlight or outdoors. (Heat resistance test examples: 180℃ x 2000 hours, 350℃ x 10 hours, etc.)

■Film hardness

Film hardness tends to vary depending on the material. When processed to A5052, it is possible to obtain excellent hardness of about HV450, compared to HV300 (from the JIS standard required value) for general hard alumite.

■TAFTRSBK reflectance (low reflectivity)

TAFTRSBK, which has a matte low-reflection specification, is a derivative of TAFRBK. TAFTRSBK is ideal for optical components (cameras and light source devices) used in high-temperature environments. Additionally, TAFTRSBK maintains low reflectance over a wider wavelength range (beyond visible light) than general matte black alumite.
