About This Product
■What is TAFTR?
TAFTR is an ultra-hard alumite treatment that does not crack even at high temperatures of 350℃, making it possible to use aluminum parts in high temperature ranges. By changing from conventional surface treatment to TAFTR, it is possible to improve performance, and by changing from stainless steel to aluminum alloy + TAFTR treatment, it is possible to reduce weight.
Recently, an increasing number of major companies are actively researching and reviewing surface treatment technologies, and as the requirements for surface treatment become more and more diverse, it is expected that it will continue to be used in a variety of applications in the future as a cost-effective surface protective film that can be used even at high temperatures, replacing conventional surface treatments such as alumite treatment and high-cost vapor deposition.
■Differences from conventional films
The features of TAFTR are its "crackless" and "heat resistance". Due to the manufacturing conditions of ordinary hard alumite, cracks occur after the alumite treatment. However, until now, hard alumite was used in cases where hardness and wear resistance of the film were required, so cracks were not often seen as a problem.
It is also known that when ordinary alumite, which is not hard alumite, is used in a high temperature range of 100℃ or higher, cracks may occur due to the stress caused by the difference in linear thermal expansion coefficient with the base material aluminum alloy.
When cracks occur, the base material, the aluminum alloy, is exposed, and in the worst case, the alumite film peels off, completely losing its surface protection function. For this reason, in the past, when aluminum alloy parts were used at temperatures above 100°C, surface treatments were taken such as selecting heat-resistant plating or vapor deposition, or using the material itself as stainless steel or resin.
On the other hand, alumite treatment and the use of aluminum alloys have advantages in terms of processing costs, adhesion to the base material, mechanical dimensional accuracy, weight reduction, heat conduction, etc. In particular, heat-resistant alumite treatment technology is strongly required for applications such as providing insulation, blackening, anti-reflection, improving heat dissipation, and improving abrasion resistance. Under these circumstances, we have developed [TAFTR] as a highly heat-resistant hard alumite that does not crack even under high temperatures.
■Heat resistance
TAFTR has a heat resistance of 350℃ and will not crack at temperatures below that temperature.
