About This Product

■Summary

The HR1215 is a multimode PFC and current mode LLC combo controller controlled via a UART interface. Power-saving technology optimizes efficiency throughout the operating range. The PFC controller uses a patented digital average current control method to achieve hybrid continuous conduction mode (CCM) and discontinuous conduction mode (DCM). At heavy loads, continuous conduction mode reduces peak MOSFET current, allowing the controller to be used over a wider load range. At light loads, the DCM reduces switching frequency (fSW) and improves efficiency. Burst mode has configurable digital soft switching to improve both efficiency and audible noise at light loads. Current mode control is implemented in the LLC stage to improve system stability and fast transient response. Three operating modes are performed based on different load conditions: steady state, skip, and burst mode. This allows different load conditions to be individually optimized and efficiency improved. At light loads, digital frequency control burst mode is applied to reduce both switching power losses and audible noise. Adaptive dead time adjustment (ADTA) and capacitive mode protection (CMP) are also applied to ensure zero voltage switching (ZVS) without capacitive mode. The HR1215 has an internal high voltage (HV) current source for startup. This means that traditional start-up resistors and external circuitry are not required. The HV current source can be implemented as an X-capacitor discharger when the AC input is in dropout, so no capacitor resistance is required. Extensive protection features include thermal shutdown, open-loop protection (OLP), overvoltage protection (OVP), overcurrent limit (OCL), overcurrent protection (OCP), SO pin protection, and overpower protection (OPP). HR1215 is offered in SOIC-20 package.
