About This Product

■Summary

The HR1210 is a multimode PFC and current mode LLC combo controller controlled via a UART interface. This power-saving device provides optimal power efficiency over a wide operating range. The device uses a PFC controller with a patented digital average current control scheme to achieve hybrid CCM and DCM operation. DCM operation reduces switching frequency at light loads and improves efficiency. Digital input capacitors and current compensation scheme provide higher power factor (PF) at light loads. At heavy loads, CCM operation reduces the MOSFET peak current, allowing the controller to be implemented over a wide load range. HR1210 implements current control mode in the LLC stage to easily achieve stability and fast response. Furthermore, three operating modes are performed based on the load condition: steady state mode, skip mode, and burst mode. This allows efficiency to be individually optimized under different load conditions. The critical zero-voltage switching (ZVS) feature of LLC converters provides significant efficiency performance benefits. This functionality is ensured by the adaptive dead time of the high-side and low-side gate drivers. HR1210 effectively prevents any resonance misalignment. The device uses a high voltage current source within the IC for startup. Eliminate traditional startup resistors and external circuitry. When the AC input is in dropout mode, the high voltage current source is also implemented as an X-capacitor (also known as a class-X capacitor) discharger, thus eliminating the resistance for the X-capacitor discharger. Protection features include over-temperature protection (OTP), PFC open-loop protection (OLP), over-voltage protection (OVP), over-current limiting (OCL), LLC over-current protection (OCP), SO pin protection, and over-power protection (OPP). HR1210 is offered in SOIC-20 and TSSOP-20 packages.
