About This Product

■Summary

The MP6517 is a single-phase, brushless DC motor driver that integrates power MOSFETs and Hall effect sensors. The MP6517 drives single-phase, brushless DC fan motors with a maximum output current limit of 1.2A. The IC has an input voltage range of 3.3V to 18V and input line reverse voltage protection to save external diodes on the supply line. MP6517 controls the rotation speed through the PWM signal on the PWM pin. MP6517 has rotor lock fault indication on FG/RD pin with rotation speed detector and open drain output. Output speed vs. input duty curves can be easily programmed for flexible use. To reduce fan driver audible noise and power dissipation, the MP6517 features soft on/off phase transition and automatic phase locking of motor winding BEMF and current. Extensive protection features include input overvoltage protection (OVP), undervoltage lockout (UVLO), rotor deadlock protection, thermal shutdown, and reverse input protection. The MP6517 requires a minimal number of external components, saving solution cost. MP6517 is offered in TSOT23-6 package.
