About This Product

■Summary

The MP2665A is a highly integrated single-cell Li-Ion and Li-Polymer battery charger with system power path management. Ideal for space-constrained portable applications. The device derives input power from the AC adapter or USB port to supply system load and charge the battery. The charger features precharging, constant current (CC) rapid charging, constant voltage (CV) regulation, power termination, and automatic recharging. Power path management ensures continuous power to the system by automatically selecting input, battery, or both to power the system. Power path management is accomplished using a low-dropout (LDO) regulator connected from the input to the system and a 100mΩ switch connected from the battery to the system. This feature separates the power supply current from the system load. This allows for proper power termination and keeps the battery fully charged. The MP2665A provides short-circuit protection (SCP) for the system by limiting current from the input to the system and from the battery to the system. This prevents damage to the lithium-ion battery due to excessively large currents. The device also provides battery undervoltage lockout (UVLO) protection, blocking the path between the battery and the system when a configurable ULVO threshold is below. This prevents excessive discharge of lithium-ion batteries. The integrated I2C interface can set the following charging parameters: Input current limit, input voltage (VIN) regulation limit, supply current, battery regulation voltage, safety timer, and battery UVLO thresholds. MP2665A is available in QFN-12 (2.5mm x 3mm) package.
