About This Product

■SummaryThere are various parameters that express water movement involved in plants, such as transpiration rate, leaf water potential, soil water potential, and weather environment, but this probe was developed for the purpose of measuring the volumetric water content inside the tree.

There is a background in which researchers in Japan and abroad have independently modified TDR sensors and ADR sensors to measure soil moisture, but there have been problems with the difficulty of penetrating the probe into the tree body, or the difficulty of reproducibility due to the method of electrically contacting the probe with the penetrated metal rod.

The MIJ-16 has been devised to enable these measurements to be performed easily and with good reproducibility, and is based on Delta-T's long-selling and highly reliable soil moisture sensor ML3 (Theta Probe).

■Features・By using a special jig, it is possible to penetrate the needle, which is the sensing part, into the tree body at an accurate position and at an accurate depth.
・A structure that connects electrically to the rod via a plunger containing a spring and a ball installed on the ML2x.
・Multiple locations can be measured with one probe (In this case, it is convenient to use the dedicated reader HH2 in combination.)
・For continuous monitoring, the needle can be combined with the probe body (can be connected to MIJ-12 data logger, etc.)
