About This Product

Most of the open source software that makes up Red Hat® Enterprise Linux is licensed under the assumption that the source code will be made public, so it is made publicly available, including parts that you have modified, without any warranty. It was acquired and rebuilt after making modifications such as deleting the trademark part. Therefore, it is almost completely functionally identical to Red Hat® Enterprise Linux. Naturally, you will not receive support provided by RedHat®, and you will be responsible for any problems that occur. CentOS is built and provided on a volunteer basis, and everything, including testing equipment, is covered by donations (including what developers bring in). Therefore, although we follow the updates released by Red Hat®, what supports us is the motivation of the developers. In 2024, development of CentOS stopped.
