About This Product

■Summary

To enable use in more applications, Surrey NanoSystems has developed a spray version of Vantablack S-VIS in addition to the vapor-deposited version of Vantablack CVD. The reflectance of S-VIS is 0.23% (@700nm). This allows Ultra Black coatings to be applied to various materials such as polymers and to 3D substrates with complex shapes. S-VIS's processing method is much easier to handle than chemical vapor deposition (CVD) and low-temperature (500°C) vacuum heating of Vantablack, which involves heat treatment at temperatures between 100 and 300°C.

■Vantablack S-VIS

Vantablack S-VIS is fabricated from short non-coherent CNTs and other organic materials/binders in a carrier solution. After application by spraying, vacuum treatment is performed while leaving the CNT structure intact. This process uses techniques similar to Vantablack CVD to functionalize and bond the coating structure while creating an optical cavity that captures light. The low reflectance properties of Vantablack S-VIS far exceed existing paints and make it the most effective coating currently available. Vantablack CVD is the only coating blacker than S-VIS.
