■Summary

Ocean Optics' TP300-UV/VIS transmission dip probe can be used in combination with the company's spectrometer and light source to measure the transmission and absorption of solutions in harsh environments. The TP300-UV/VIS probe is an inert PEEK transmission probe equipped with a tip (RT-PH) that allows a transmission film to be installed in the optical path. The illuminating light passes through the film, is reflected by a mirror, passes through the film again, and is directed into a measurement fiber connected to a spectrometer. The sample is allowed to flow freely on both sides of the film. With the RTP-2-10 (2-10mm variable), the TP300-UV/VIS can be used for routine transmission measurements. detail

■Probe assembly

The TP300-UV/VIS probe consists of a 3.175mm external stainless steel body sealed in a PEEK polymer sleeve with two 300μm core diameter fibers assembled for irradiation and measurement. The fiber can be selected to be UV resistant or visible/near infrared resistant.

■PEEK polymer sleeve

PEEK polymer sleeves can be used in environments up to 200°C. PEEK material also has excellent radiation resistance, low flammability, and chemical resistance. PEEK sleeve (TPSLEEVE) is included with TP300-UV/VIS. The stainless steel sleeve (T300SLEEVE) shown in the photo on the right is also available.

■Operation theory

TP300 operates in the same way as T300-RT and T200-RT. The illuminating light from the light source passes through the plano-convex lens, passes through the sample, and hits the plane back mirror. The light reflected from this mirror is focused by a lens, enters a measurement fiber, and is guided to a spectrometer.

■ Optical path length variable tip

Two variable path length tips are available for the TP300-UV/VIS. One tip allows you to adjust the optical path length from 2 to 10 mm, and the other tip allows you to adjust the optical path length from 10 to 20 mm. There is also an RT-PH tip that allows you to install a pH film along the optical path length for the pH sensor shown in the back right of the photo.
