About This Product

■Overview

A starch paste for applying natural-material wallpaper, made mainly from wheat starch, with enhanced preservative and anti-mold performance provided by natural ingredients such as phytoncide extracted from Japanese cypress. We are the only company in Japan that manufactures starch paste for wallpaper and general paper using the [in-pipe gelatinization method]. Manufacturing by the [in-pipe gelatinization method] makes it difficult for bacteria such as mold to get in, making it possible to produce a starch paste that resists spoilage without treatment with hazardous chemical substances. It is a very labor-intensive manufacturing method with a poor yield, but in the belief that this is the only process that avoids hazardous chemical substances entirely while also keeping natural preservative ingredients such as phytoncide to a minimum, "Nagara Nori Honpo" continues to use the [in-pipe gelatinization method], which no one else has adopted because of its cost. Because no preservative or anti-mold treatment using hazardous chemical substances is applied, it is not only extremely safe to use but also releases no hazardous chemical substances that would pollute the environment when it is later incinerated or disposed of.

■The Difference Between "Hare-Hare" and "Hare-Hare A"

The difference is whether rice flour is included. Adding rice flour raises the viscosity and strengthens the adhesion, so rice flour is included in "Hare-Hare" to prevent the wallpaper from peeling off. Because adding rice flour raises the viscosity and makes the paste a little harder to spread during application, "Hare-Hare A", which emphasizes versatility, contains no rice flour. Compared with "Hare-Hare", "Hare-Hare A" is a little softer when mixed with water.

■Points to Note

It is delivered not as a powder but as a firm gel. It is not used as-is but is mixed with water before use.
