About This Product
■Neodymium magnet material description
Neodymium magnets are rare earth magnets invented in Japan in 1983, and are the strongest permanent magnets. Because the main raw materials are neodymium and iron, which are relatively abundant, they can be manufactured at a lower cost than Samakoba magnets. In addition, the specific gravity is 10% lower than that of Samacoba magnets, making it suitable for needs for smaller size and lighter weight.
Furthermore, due to its high mechanical strength, it is less likely to chip or crack, and is easy to machine and handle after magnetization. On the other hand, due to its strong magnetic force, it has a magnetic effect on the surrounding area, so care must be taken when handling it. The disadvantage is that it has relatively large temperature characteristics and is prone to thermal demagnetization. Additionally, due to its poor corrosion resistance, it rusts easily and requires surface treatment if used in high temperature and humid environments.
Because they are typically nickel-plated, many neodymium magnets have a silvery, metallic appearance. It is often used in miniaturized electronic devices that take advantage of its high magnetic energy product, and is also used in products such as hard disks, CD/DVD players, and mobile phones. For example, in hard disks, it is used in the read/write actuator called the head.
In addition, most modern headphones have it built-in because it provides high-quality sound when it is built into headphones.
■Features
・Has high magnetic flux density and extremely strong magnetic force.
・The temperature change in magnetic force is large.
- Tends to cause thermal demagnetization when heated.
・Surface treatment is required as it rusts easily. (Ni plating, etc.)
