About This Product

■Summary

"Ekurika" is a special transparent extruded product with excellent transparency, scratch resistance, heat resistance, and weather resistance. Acrylic and recently polycarbonate are the mainstream transparent resins, but this product has properties similar to acrylic's weather resistance, optical properties, and surface hardness, and also has polycarbonate's great strength that acrylic does not have. It has properties close to impact resistance, heat resistance, and flame retardancy. In addition, since it is plant-based (BPA*1 free), it is possible to create products that are environmentally friendly, and since it is not a biodegradable polymer, it is highly durable. It can be used in a wide range of fields, including optical-related components such as LED covers, substitute components for high-performance glass, and housing, interior and exterior materials for electronic devices and automobiles. Pipes can also be extruded into different shapes rather than base ones. *1: Bisphenol A An organic compound mainly used in resins such as polycarbonate. Features

■Transparency

Since it is BPA-free, it has better transparency and optical properties than polycarbonate made from BPA.

■Weather resistance

It has the same performance as acrylic with little yellowing caused by light.

■Scratch resistance

It has a higher surface hardness and better scratch resistance than polycarbonate.

■Flame retardant

It has flame retardant properties equivalent to polycarbonate.

■Shock resistance

It has excellent surface impact strength and has impact resistance comparable to polycarbonate, even under conditions that would cause brittle fracture in acrylic.

■Environmental friendliness

Since it is a plant-based raw material, it contributes to reducing carbon dioxide emissions.

■Applications

Optical related parts such as LED covers, housings, interior and exterior parts of electronic devices and automobiles, etc. As an alternative to acrylic, polycarbonate, and high-performance glass. *Durabio™ is a registered trademark of Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation.
