About This Product

In response to the requests of experimenters, we will attempt to recreate the harsh environment by creating devices that can generate swirling flows that mimic tornadoes and that can sway the model with the force of the wind. We offer various equipment related to wind tunnel experiment equipment.

■Differences in air passage format

We will explain the basic contents, such as the configuration of wind tunnel equipment and the differences in air blowing types. ・Eiffel-type wind tunnel: A space-saving, low-cost wind tunnel that does not have a return air path. The airflow circulates around the room. - Eiffel-type wind tunnel example introduction: Kyoto University Multifunctional Wind Tunnel System (This is a high-performance wind tunnel equipment equipped with many experimental devices and a structure response simulator.The walls of the measurement barrel are made entirely of acrylic resin to improve visibility and aesthetics inside the barrel. ) ・Göttingen-type wind tunnel: The air path is in a closed loop, creating an ideal measurement environment with stable airflow. ・Göttingen-type wind tunnel example introduction: National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health Construction Environment Simulator (A wind tunnel that simulates the effects of wind on construction site equipment and workers. It is characterized by having measuring bodies in several places.

■Blower selection

There are two main types of blowers: axial flow type and centrifugal type (sirocco type). - Axial blower: A blower suitable for large air volume (high wind speed). There are models that are compatible with both the Eiffel and Göttingen air passage types, and the elevation angle of the rotor blade can be adjusted, making them suitable for a wide range of applications. ・Centrifugal blower: A blower that can be installed in a small space and is cheaper than an axial blower. Due to its structure, it is not suitable for Göttingen-type wind tunnels, but it is used for small Eiffel-type wind tunnels and wind tunnels with relatively low air volume (low wind speed).

■Airflow accuracy

Airflow accuracy, along with maximum wind speed, is an important indicator of wind tunnel performance. Airflow accuracy is expressed by "wind speed distribution" and "strength of turbulence." To ensure air flow accuracy, the air path is equipped with a diffusion cylinder, a rectification cylinder, and a contraction cylinder. ・Diffusion cylinder: Spreads the airflow generated by the blower to the size of the rectifier cylinder and slows it down at the same time. If the diffusion angle is steep, adjust it by adding resistance with mesh - Straightening cylinder: Adjusts the wind speed distribution and turbulence with several meshes, and reduces swirling components with a honeycomb. - Contraction cylinder: Compresses the rectified airflow and increases the wind speed to the required value. As the airflow cross section becomes smaller, the upstream wind speed distribution becomes more uniform and turbulence becomes smaller.
