About This Product
Markforged's Metal 3D printer Metal X is mainly used in the manufacturing industry to create highly customizable jigs, prototype parts, and final products. Compared to conventional machining, complex shapes can be created at a lower cost and in a shorter period of time. By applying MIM (Metal Injection Molding) technology and establishing a unique metal additive manufacturing method, there is no need for explosion-proof equipment, making it possible to manufacture metal parts more safely and more simply. .
Adopts unique modeling method
The material used in the Metal Additionally, since no laser is used, internal stress is kept to a minimum.
■Modeling -Printing-
A material made of a mixture of metal powder and a binder is additively manufactured using the FFF method to output a pre-sintered model called a green body. The shrinkage rate during the sintering process is automatically calculated, and at this point the part is larger than the actual finished part. Additionally, support is automatically added to the overhang area, and ceramic material is layered between the support and the part.
■Degreasing -Washing-
MetalX (Metal The solvent used is Opteon. This process cleans the entire part by removing binders that are stuck inside the part. This cleaning process is an essential step in increasing part density and creating higher quality parts.
■Sintering
Sinter-1 and Sinter-2 are dedicated vacuum furnaces optimized for MetalX. The sintering time and temperature are precisely calculated depending on the material and size, resulting in a uniform metal part with high density. No special operations are required, and the sintering flow is completed automatically. Sinter-2 has a wider sintering area than Sinter-1 and is equipped with a high-speed sintering mode (Express Run).
