■Piezoelectric thin film ZnO
Piezoelectric thin films are obtained by C-axis-aligning zinc oxide (ZnO) onto a medium such as sapphire or quartz using a sputtering method.
■Features
Since a thin film is formed using the sputtering method, high frequency probes of 100MHz or higher can be manufactured.
■Application as underwater sensor
・Manufacturable frequency: 100MHz or more, 400MHz or less
・The sensor is constructed by arranging zinc oxide (ZnO) along the C-axis on the other end of a rod-shaped medium (acoustic lens) with a spherical lens on one end. Sapphire or quartz is used as the medium.
・Electrical signals are converted into ultrasonic waves using zinc oxide (ZnO), and the plane waves propagate inside the acoustic lens.The spherical lenses on the end surfaces of the acoustic lenses convert them into focused beams, which are then radiated into the water.
