About This Product

■Half cell test equipment

・ Utilizing the know-how of the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology ・Fuel cell membrane/electrode assembly ・Developed as a model electrode for (MEA) → Easy to use even for beginners ・Gas phase electrode reaction analysis ・Small and inexpensive ・Ideal for evaluation tests in fuel cell catalyst and membrane material development

■Features of half cell

・Can examine only the gas electrode on one side of the fuel cell ・The electrode area can be reduced ・No need for large-capacity electronic load device (measured with potentiostat) ・MEAs that have been evaluated in fuel cells can be cut out and inspected (product inspection and management) ・MEA durability test also possible ・Especially when testing the cathode side, there is no need to use hydrogen gas.

■ Half-cell test results for one-sided MEA: Effect of O2 partial pressure

Half-cell test results ・Even if the total flow rate is constant, the current density varies depending on the gas composition (oxygen partial pressure) ・The current increases rapidly until the oxygen partial pressure reaches 0.125-0.5, and then gradually increases. Oxygen partial pressure vs. current density ・Almost linear relationship at high potential (charge transfer response area: proportional to reactant concentration) ・Upward convex curve at low potential (diffusion-limited region)

■ Half-cell test results of one-sided MEA: Polarization curve of H2 oxidation and O2 reduction reaction under gas flow (room temperature)

・Possible to measure polarization curves for H2 oxidation and O2 reduction. ・Even if the flow rate of H2 gas is changed to 25, 50, 75, 100ml min^-1, the polarization curve is almost the same.
