RA8870 is a TFT LCD controller that supports character and graphics display. Control text or 2D graphics applications with medium-sized TFT modules up to 640 x 480 pixels.
The built-in RAM of RA8870 supports 65K color 320 x 240 dot TFT panel display, 4K color 640 x 240/320 x 480 display, and 4K color 320 x 240 dot 2-layer display. By installing external RAM, it supports up to 65K color 640 x 480 panel.
The built-in CGROM can display the international standard character code ISO8859-1/2/3/4, which contains 256 x 4 characters and can also display English and most European languages. For graphics usage, the RA8870 supports 2D Block Transfer Engine (BTE), which is compatible with 2D BitBLT functionality to handle large data transfers.
The Geometric Speed-up Engine provides users with an easy way to draw hardware-programmable geometric shapes such as lines, squares, and circles. Moreover, the RA8870 has many features, such as screen rotation, scrolling, graphic patterns, two-layer composite display, and text enlargement.
To reduce system cost, RA8870 provides touch panel control 8080/6800MCU I/F with 4-5 wires, PWM adjusts panel backlight and several GPIOs.
The RA8870 provides users with a low-cost, versatile, and easy-to-use TFT LCD controller of choice.
