About This Product

■Summary

A photoelastic modulator (PEM) is a unique polarization control element that can modulate the polarization state of light at a fixed frequency. Using HINDS Instruments' proprietary technology, a piezoelectric element is driven at high speed to apply stress to an optical element such as synthetic quartz, intentionally generating stress birefringence and modulating the polarization state of transmitted light. It supports a wide wavelength range from vacuum ultraviolet light to mid-infrared light, and can be used for various applications such as birefringence measurement, polarimetry, ellipsometry, MOKE (magneto-optical Kerr effect), and optical chopper.
