About This Product

■Improved performance of existing convection ovens Increased drying speed

"VariDry" (manufactured by LAMBDA Technologies) is a microwave booster oven that improves the drying speed of Li-ion battery positive and negative electrode materials. By adding this booster oven to your convection oven, you can expect to speed up drying by 3 to 5 times. It can handle roll-to-roll drying processes up to 220mm wide and is installed between the coating machine and convection oven. The expansion area is 1m long, which is a space-saving design, and the power efficiency can be reduced by approximately 70%. The microwave used in "VariDry" is a frequency variable microwave using patented VFM technology, which not only heats the entire material evenly and uniformly, but also does not generate electrical discharge in metal materials such as aluminum and copper foil. The microwave oscillator and amplifier, which are the heart of VFM, are all solid-state with semiconductor elements, allowing for stepless adjustment of microwave output, drying temperature control through PID control, and long life. While monitoring material temperature with a non-contact thermometer, it is possible to automatically control microwave output to maintain an appropriate processing temperature. There is no fear of overheating, which is a problem with conventional microwave ovens.

■Suppresses void generation and binder migration

With "VariDry," the final complete drying is performed in a convection oven without completely drying the positive and negative electrode materials. Compared to positive/negative electrode materials dried only in a convection oven, void generation and binder migration are suppressed, and extremely uniform and dense positive/negative electrodes can be formed. The irradiated microwaves are mainly absorbed by the moisture contained in the pole material and the uncured binder, and heat is rapidly and uniformly generated throughout the material, causing it to dry. Therefore, there is no binder migration that tends to occur in convection ovens that heat from the surface, and no air bubbles generated near the collector band interface. Basically, aluminum foil and copper foil, which are current collectors, do not generate heat due to microwaves.

■About patented VFM technology (variable frequency microwave)

"VariDry" is equipped with VFM technology (Variable Frequency Microwave) that varies the microwave frequency (sweeps at high speed).
