Scan by rotating the polyhedral mirror. Used in laser writing systems such as digital copiers.
The optical deflection angle is the angle of one rotation divided by the number of faces, which is 120 degrees for 6 faces. The size and thickness of the mirror is determined by the size of the scanning beam. As the mirror gets larger, the number of rotations will be limited due to factors such as windage damage, and the type of bearing will change depending on the number of rotations. Scanners that rotate on one surface using a prism are called monogon scanners and can scan 306 degrees.
