About This Product

■What is a vibration sensor (vibration meter)? A sensor that detects vibrations of objects. The physical quantities that represent vibration include displacement, velocity, and acceleration. Generally, the physical quantity to be detected is selected based on the object of vibration and frequency. ■Displacement Suitable for detecting natural vibrations of structures and unbalance of low-speed rotating equipment. The frequency of vibration is mainly below 100Hz. ■Speed Suitable for detecting general motor imbalance. The frequency of vibration will range from 10 to 1,000Hz. ■Acceleration Suitable for detecting bearing damage, etc. The frequency of vibration is over 1,000Hz. Vibration sensors are used in production equipment and civil engineering structures, as well as in research and development. In production equipment, it is used to detect deterioration or damage (failure) in equipment such as motors and bearings at an early stage, and to perform maintenance to prevent operational stoppages. In recent years, the evolution of data analysis along with vibration sensors and IoT devices has contributed to improving production efficiency by detecting abnormalities early, reducing downtime due to breakdowns, and reducing repair costs. In the field of research and development, it has traditionally been used for product design and product durability testing. It is used in a wide range of applications, including the automobile industry, railway industry, electrical equipment, and production robots. ■Types of vibration sensors (vibration meters) There are two types of vibration sensors: contact type and non-contact type. It is desirable to select a vibration sensor according to the location and vibration characteristics to be measured. Epson's vibration sensor is a product that applies a contact-type, frequency-changing acceleration sensor. By calculating the measured acceleration internally, it is converted into vibration velocity and vibration displacement and output. ■Mechanism of vibration sensor (vibration meter) The basic structure of Epson's vibration sensor consists of a crystal resonator, a crystal cantilever, and a sensitivity adjustment weight. The applied vibration is converted into a tensile or compressive force on the crystal oscillator by the crystal cantilever and the sensitivity adjustment weight, changing the oscillation frequency of the crystal oscillator. The oscillation frequency, which changes according to the magnitude of vibration, is converted into physical quantities such as acceleration and velocity, which are output from the sensor as digital values.
