Phenylacetic acid is an organic compound consisting of a methyl group of acetic acid with one hydrogen atom replaced by a phenyl group.
Its molecular formula is C8H8O2, and its CAS number is 103-82-2.
It has a molecular weight of 136.15, a melting point of 76-77°C, and a boiling point of 265.5°C. At room temperature, it exists as a white solid and has a characteristic odor.
