A pilot burner is a premixed type burner primarily used for igniting the main burner in various applications.
This burner acts as a pilot light, maintaining a constant flame to ensure the main burner's flame remains lit. Notably, pilot burners are designed for high flame stability and resistance to blowouts. They are also resilient to changes in air and gas pressure, which helps maintain a consistent air-fuel ratio. The length of the pilot burner should be selected based on the dimensions of the main burner. In addition to igniting burners, pilot burners are also used in cooking appliances.
For enhanced safety, if the pilot burner fails to ignite or if its flame is extinguished, it includes a mechanism that automatically shuts off the gas supply to the burner. This safety feature is designed to activate within 1.5 minutes of a failed ignition or flameout.
