A scrubber, also known as a washing tower, is a device designed to remove air pollutants.
In power plants and factories that use fossil fuels such as petroleum, coal, and natural gas, various harmful gases are generated during the production process. Scrubbers play a key role in removing pollutants present in the gas, such as harmful gases (sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides), before they are released into the atmosphere, thereby mitigating the environmental impact.
It is worth noting that there are two main types of scrubbers: wet scrubbers and dry scrubbers. Wet scrubbers utilize an alkaline cleaning solution sprayed to neutralize and absorb pollutants through chemical reactions, while dry scrubbers decompose pollutant gas components through catalytic reactions.
