About This Product
This product was developed in collaboration with the Tottori Prefectural Agricultural Experiment Station to improve the quality of white onions, which are a specialty of Tottori Prefecture, and to save labor for producers. This product is attached to the back of your management machine, uses a rotary to raise soil, and uses rollers to firmly move the soil to the base of the green onion plants. By firmly covering the base of the green onion with soil, you can maintain the length of the soft white part, which is synonymous with white onions, and grow into high-quality green onions, which can be expected to improve quality. In addition, it can quickly respond to sudden strong winds such as typhoons, which are the enemy of green onion producers, so you can expect to reduce and control the damage caused by lodging of green onions.
■Purpose
The purpose of this project is to compare the traditional soil-filling work time with the work time when introducing Negi Bijin, and investigate whether it can bring benefits to producers.
■Background
A particularly important work item in green onion production is soil mulching. In particular, in recent years, abnormal weather has caused typhoons to occur in the waters around Japan, and there have been reports of damage to green onions being knocked down in various places. In addition, the shipping standards for green onions are strict, and not only farmers but also consumers have a strict eye for things such as the blurred soft white part and length of green onions.
■Survey overview and results
The average value was calculated based on 10 responses from producers inside and outside the prefecture that our company and Toa Sangyo Co., Ltd. cooperated with as monitors.
■Consideration
This survey revealed that the introduction of "Negibijin" can significantly reduce the time needed to move the earth. Although we expected a certain amount of time savings, the maximum time savings of 5 hours exceeded our expectations. Furthermore, we received a photo of green onions after two weeks in the cultivation soil in "Negi Bijin" from the producer (Yachiyo City, Chiba Prefecture) who had installed the monitor.
As you can see, there is no blurring in the soft white area and the length is maintained. We believe that it is possible to meet not only the work time but also to ensure the soft white parts that meet the shipping standards. Based on the above, we believe that the spread and introduction of "Negi Bijin" among green onion producers is effective.
