■Summary
The most important step in obtaining excellent microstructure photographs using a metallurgical microscope is said to be the sample polishing process. If this step is inaccurate or omitted, accurate microscopic structures cannot be obtained.
In order to take a part of the material and use it as a microscopic specimen, it is necessary to finish it with a smooth, scratch-free mirror surface. Union Optical's rotary polishing machine -GP- has a continuously variable rotation speed to make it suitable for polishing various samples.
■Features
・Rotating part bearings use sealed ball bearings, which are wear-resistant and rust-proof, and do not require lubrication, so performance will not deteriorate over many years.
- The polishing disk is attached with screws and can be easily removed.
- The polishing disk is alumite plated, so there is no rust caused by abrasive powder.
・Despite the wide polishing surface of φ240 for both single and double polishing machines, vibration and surface runout are reduced.
・A continuously variable speed motor is used to rotate the polishing machine for both single and dual types.
・A spring band method is used for easy and reliable attachment of the polishing cloth.
