About This Product

■Summary

The Frush optical frequency comb generator uses a single LN modulator to generate an optical frequency comb with a flat optical spectrum in the Free Spectral Range (FSR) of 12-18GHz. Usually, this optical frequency comb is a picosecond optical pulse with a repetition frequency that corresponds to FSR. Frush alone does not generate an optical frequency comb, and to generate an optical frequency comb, a continuous wave (CW) light source and an RF signal generator are separately required as external devices. The linewidth of each longitudinal mode of the generated optical frequency comb and the average output obtained by summing the longitudinal modes depend on the CW light source. The average output of the optical frequency comb is approximately 20 dB attenuated from the average output of the CW light source. As an external CW light source, we recommend a distributed feedback (DFB) laser with a linewidth of 3MHz or less and an average output of 13dBm or more using a polarization maintaining fiber (PMF) output. The timing jitter of picosecond optical pulses depends on the phase noise of the RF signal generator. The external RF signal source can output a sine wave with a frequency corresponding to the FSR of the optical frequency comb, and requires approximately +20 dBm of power.

■Features

・Optical comb FSR12-18GHz ・Flat light spectrum ・High long-term stability ・You can use your own RF signal generator/CW light source

■Applications

- Millimeter wave/THz wave oscillation and reception ・Ultra high-speed spectroscopy, high-resolution spectroscopy ・Optical communication ・Gas sensing ・LIDAR, 3D shape measurement

■Specification details

There is one optical signal monitor output port on the front of the case and two RF signal monitor output ports on the back of the case, allowing synchronization with measuring instruments. After amplifying the pulsed optical frequency comb output from Frush to approximately +33 dBm using an optical fiber amplifier, the spectral width can be expanded to approximately several tens of nanometers by self-phase modulation by inputting it into a highly nonlinear optical fiber.
