The chip scattering prevention holder is a holder that comes with an ultra-light cover that prevents chips from scattering. In order to cope with the environment inside the processing machine, the cover uses a CFRP additive manufacturing product that has a high strength-to-weight ratio, heat resistance, and coolant resistance. Furthermore, it is extremely lightweight and can satisfy the weight limit of the main shaft. Simply attaching it to a machining center prevents chips from scattering and improves production efficiency. Development concept/product concept

■Current situation and issues

- Chips that fly toward the spindle during machining can get caught during ATC, leading to deterioration of machining accuracy and short stops due to runout detection. ・We considered adding a metal cover to the holder to prevent chips from scattering, but it was difficult to meet the weight limit for the spindle.

■Development points

・The "chip scattering prevention holder" has an ultra-light cover attached to the holder that prevents chips from scattering toward the spindle. ・The CFRP layered product used for the cover has a high strength-to-weight ratio and has the heat resistance and coolant resistance of the base resin nylon, so it can be used in the environment inside a processing machine. ・It is ultra-lightweight, making it possible to cover the holder while meeting the weight limit of the spindle, preventing problems caused by flying chips by simply installing it.
