■Summary

High-precision optical alignment system POAS-10 is an optical system configuration system for constructing high-precision experiment and measurement optical systems by aligning multiple optical elements. POAS-10 uses our unique self-centering fastening method (SCFM) in three locations: attaching the optical component mount to the alignment plate, attaching the alignment plate to the base frame, and assembling the frame base. SCFM is a state-of-the-art technology that uses self-centering washers (SCW) and countersunk screws to self-align each part to each other with the single task of tightening the screws, achieving highly accurate and robust fixation in three dimensions. This is a fastening technology. The optical component mount is attached to the alignment plate using two SCWs at 50mm intervals, so the position and orientation (angle) of the optical component mount can be self-aligned and fixed with the tapped holes of the alignment plate with high precision. To remove or replace the optical component mount, simply rotate the screw approximately 45° to loosen the SCW, and then pull the mount vertically to remove it instantly. To reinstall or replace the optical component mount, insert the optical component mount into the SCW approximately 45°. The work is completed instantly just by tightening the screws. At this time, the position and orientation of the mount are also reproduced with high accuracy, making it ideal for optical experiments. Furthermore, the base frame of POAS-10 is compact and light enough to be held in one hand, and the SCW assembly provides a highly accurate and robust structure, but there are concerns about long-term optical axis misalignment due to weight distortion and temperature drift caused by large optical surface plates. Also, since the optical path can be completed within the frame, it is possible to eliminate the effects of vibrations caused by external disturbances.

- Robust frame eliminates the need for an optical surface plate, allowing high-precision experiments to be performed on a regular workbench. ・SCW has a self-aligning function, and each part can be positioned and fixed with high precision just by tightening the screws. ・Each optical component is fixed independently, and parts in the middle can be inserted and removed vertically. - Commercially available countersunk screws are used for the fixing screws, and the SCW can be reused, making it economical. - Optical components can be combined to create a module on a plate for shared use. ・The optical axis height from the alignment plate is unified to 25 mm, making it extremely compact. ・The alignment plate has taps at 10mm intervals, allowing parts to be placed freely. ・The alignment base is compatible with Thorlab's 30mm cage system and can be shared.
