About This Product
PFA resin: Used in fields such as semiconductor-related products.
■Features
PFA is a thermoplastic resin that is a copolymer of tetrafluoroethylene and perfluoroalkoxyethylene. It has properties comparable to PTFE, and its greatest feature is that it can be melt-molded into complex shapes, unlike PTFE, which can only be processed by cutting.
PFA was developed to improve the processability of PTFE and can maintain stable mechanical strength over a wide range of temperatures from -200℃ to 260℃. It boasts outstanding chemical resistance, being inert to high-temperature, high-concentration acids and alkalis, insoluble in solvents, and free of leachable substances. It has non-adhesive properties that do not accept adhesives and are water repellent.
Furthermore, it has sliding properties not found in other resins, has high insulation properties, and is a functional material with unchanging weather resistance. However, the resin temperature during molding is extremely high, usually between 320 and 400°C, and the viscosity is high, so melt fluidity is not very good. Additionally, when melted, a small amount of decomposition products are generated, which tends to corrode metals.
Therefore, when designing a mold, it is necessary to pay attention to the material, design, etc., and to set appropriate molding conditions when manufacturing the product. It is used in tubes, hoses, joints, containers, films, coatings, linings, wire sheathing products, semiconductor-related products, lithium-ion battery-related products, etc.
■Advantages
