About This Product

LCP liquid crystal polymer: Excellent heat resistance, chemical resistance, and dimensional stability LCP is an abbreviation for "Liquid Crystal Polymer" and is called "liquid crystal polymer" or "liquid crystal polyester" in Japanese. It is one of the super engineering plastics with excellent heat resistance and flame retardancy, and among these, it is a resin with low water absorption and excellent moldability. It is used for ultra-precision molding that requires high dimensional accuracy and for thin-walled molded products that take advantage of high fluidity.Specifically, it is used for electrical and electronic parts such as connectors, bobbins, relays, motor parts, and automobiles that take advantage of its heat resistance. It is used for electrical parts, etc. Disadvantages of LCP include weak impact and abrasion resistance, easy generation of gas, and easy formation of burrs. At our company, we manufacture products in micron units and use built-in precision molds to suppress the occurrence of burrs. In the future, it is expected that it will be used as a 5G peripheral component that takes advantage of the high frequency characteristics of LCP.

■Advantages

・Excellent heat resistance. ・High rigidity. (The crystals are dense and exceed the filler reinforcement level of engineering plastics. However, it is anisotropic.) ・High elasticity. ・Good molding fluidity. (Due to its liquid crystal properties and fewer entanglements between molecules when melted, it has low viscosity and is convenient for fine molding.) ・Excellent chemical resistance. - Dimensional stability.

■Disadvantages

・Weak impact and abrasion resistance. ・Gas is easily generated. - Burrs are likely to appear.
