About This Product

PEI resin: Super engineering plastic with high strength and excellent insulation properties at high temperatures PEI resin is a type of super engineering plastic that has particularly superior properties compared to resins called engineering plastics, and is a widely known material in the resin cutting industry. The "ether" in the name means ether bond, which makes it relatively easy to process. Also, "imide" means imide bond, which has the characteristics of improving heat resistance and strength. General grade has an amber appearance and is transparent. Grades containing fillers such as glass, PTFE, and carbon fiber are light brown, black, or gray and are not transparent. Used in the automotive field: carburetor parts, engine parts, bearing retainers, aviation parts, interior/engine parts, mechanical parts, pumps, hydraulic equipment parts, electronic and electrical parts, switches, connectors, bobbins, and other parts such as medical equipment, food manufacturing equipment, etc.

■Advantages

・Excellent heat resistance (continuous heat resistance temperature 170℃, maintains high strength at high temperatures) ・Good hot water resistance (no deterioration of physical properties even after repeated high temperature sterilization) ・Flame retardant (low amount of smoke when burned. Does not emit toxic gas) ・Excellent mechanical strength ・Excellent electrical insulation (excellent radiation and ultraviolet resistance in a wide range of temperature and frequency bands) ・Good moldability (however, drying is required before molding) ・Good chemical resistance among amorphous resins ・Transparency

■Disadvantages

- Weak against shocks and high notch sensitivity. The corner design needs to be R. ・As a general property of amorphous plastics, they have difficulties in chemical resistance and abrasion resistance.
