About This Product

■Summary

Ergste1.4310FB/FE is an austenitic chromium-nickel steel with a chromium content of 18%, which combines toughness and elasticity. High tensile strength can be achieved by cold working an austenite structure. FE is remelted electroslag and is a highly clean product for high precision medical instruments.

■Typical applications

・Dental instruments: root canal files, cutters, drill bits ・Orthodontic products ・Surgical instruments ・Surgical needle ・Intervention: Catheter, guide wire ・Stamping and bending parts: Stylet (medical metal rod)

■Welding

Shows good weldability for fusion welding and resistance welding. However, welding returns the mechanical properties of cold working to the annealed state, so it is recommended that annealing be performed after welding. This melts the chromium carbide and maximizes corrosion resistance.

■Cold processing

Ergste 1.4310FB/FE usually retains good residual elasticity after processing with low-temperature tempering, resulting in good ductility.

■Cutting processing

Compared to soft annealed austenitic materials, Ergste1.4310FB/FE has poor chipping resistance under cold drawing conditions.

■Corrosion resistance

Ergste1.4310FB/FE is resistant to corrosion in normal atmospheric, freshwater and mild environments. Surface polishing improves corrosion resistance compared to rough surfaces.
