About This Product

■Summary

ERGSTE1.4543GG is a precipitation-hardened 12% chromium-nickel steel with excellent corrosion resistance and impact strength. This product is relatively soft and can be formed well (if heat treated and solution annealed). By performing appropriate heat treatment, it is possible to achieve a hardness of 48HRC and has excellent corrosion resistance.

■Weldability

Ergste1.4543GG shows good weldability in shielded arc welding and resistance welding. No preheating required. The best results are often obtained under solution annealing. Avoid oxy-acetylene welding. Problems may occur in the weld.

■Hot processing

・Forging temperature 1,650-2,280℉ (900-1,250℃) ・ Gradually heat to approximately 2,000±100℉ (1,100±50℃) ・Maintains temperature during forging Achieving optimal particle size and properties after heat treatment at finishing temperature of 1,500-1,700℉ (820-930℃) ・After forging, slowly cool to room temperature (ex. air cooling)

■Corrosion resistance

Corrosion resistance is comparable to austenite (eg 1.4301). In some cases even better due to higher copper content. Ergste1.4543GG shows good corrosion resistance in normal atmosphere and does not corrode in fresh water.
