Combinations of halogenated flame retardants and antimony trioxide are extremely effective in making flammable resins flame retardant, and have been used in a wide range of products. However, in recent years, the use of some halogen-based flame retardants has begun to be banned, mainly in Europe, due to their environmental impact. In particular, with regard to resins for wire coatings, the development of non-halogen, flame-retardant resins is being actively carried out as the use of eco-cables increases.
Along with aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide is widely used as a natural hydrate flame retardant material.
