■What is MTA alloy?

Utilizing the know-how cultivated over many years, MTA Alloy has developed a completely new melting method. We succeeded in alloying iron and copper for the first time in the world by finely dispersing iron and copper particles and alloying the two metals at the crystal level. Similar prototypes have been made in the past, but the greatest feature of this alloy is that the crystals are neatly dispersed, and it can be mass-produced in an atmospheric furnace. By adjusting the ratio of iron and copper, it is possible to have the performance of various copper alloys, so it was named the multi-purpose alloy - [Multi Tool Alloy].

■For those who are having trouble with beryllium copper substitute materials

"MTA-FeX2" is a new iron-copper alloy mold material that is expected to have a pre-hardened hardness of 24-28HRC and a thermal conductivity of 80-95W/m・K. Beryllium is made by alloying only iron and copper, the two most common metals on earth, without using rare minerals such as cobalt or nickel, so it can be used with confidence without price or procurement risks.

■New alloy that is safe, secure, and inexpensive

Beryllium copper is difficult to obtain worldwide. Now, with the arrival of EVs, 5G, and a wind power generation society, the price of copper is increasing, and the price of various copper alloys is increasing as a result. In particular, beryllium copper has been considered as a candidate substance for restriction under the EU-RoHS Directive due to its effects on the human body, and many countries are hoping to switch to alternative materials.

■Surface treatment is possible for MTA-FeX2.

We are researching various properties of MTA alloy. Since this is the first alloy ever created in the world, we are examining its properties from various angles. The surface hardness of MTA-FeX2 is greatly improved by plating and Edison hard treatment. Furthermore, thermal conductivity is maintained, and corrosion resistance and wear resistance are dramatically improved. ・Hard chrome plating – hardness HV750 – ・DLC (carbon) –Hardness HV2500 (MAX) - ・CrN (chromium nitride) –Hardness HV2000 (MAX) - ・Edison Hard – Hardness HV730 – ・Crab boron plating – hardness HV800 –

■Advantages

・As it is a base material, it is low cost and achieves high cycle performance comparable to that of beryllium copper. ・Good cutting and workability & excellent high temperature properties. Magnetic chuck can also be used. ・Since it is an iron-based alloy, it has hardness, but its thermal conductivity is 3 to 5 times that of general steel.
