■What is MTA alloy?
MTA Alloy has developed a completely new melting method using the know-how cultivated over many years. We succeeded in alloying iron and copper for the first time in the world by finely dispersing iron and copper particles and alloying the two metals at the crystal level.
The main feature of this alloy is that the crystals are neatly dispersed and it can be mass-produced in an atmospheric furnace. By adjusting the ratio of iron and copper, it is possible to have the performance of various copper alloys, so it was named Multi Tool Alloy.
■The birth of stainless steel with super antibacterial properties
Stainless steel is used in kitchens, tableware, cars, hospitals, and many other things around us, but in reality, stainless steel has almost no antibacterial properties. This is because the ingredients do not contain metals that have antibacterial effects. The main metals that have antibacterial effects are copper and silver.
Using the iron and copper alloy technology developed by MTA, we have successfully developed the copper stainless steel MTA-S series, which is made by adding more than 10% copper to stainless steel whose main component is iron.
■Antibacterial effect on the same level as copper
Copper stainless steel looks almost the same as stainless steel. Since only 10% to 20% of copper is mixed in, it is almost silver in color. However, it has been discovered that stainless steel, which previously had no bactericidal effect, has an antibacterial effect due to the influence of just 10% copper. Of course, it maintains the rust resistance characteristic of stainless steel.
■Environmentally friendly antibacterial material
The mechanism of MTA-S10's antibacterial action is still unclear, but the potential difference between copper and iron in the ingredients generates OH radicals, known for their strong oxidizing power, which constantly fly around in water, for example. It has been pointed out that it may destroy and sterilize bacteria from their DNA.
