■Shape determines quality
Manufactured by us under license from the VDEh-Betriebsforschungsinstitut (BFI), the BFI profilometer rolls have a sturdy roll body with a homogeneous steel surface. These are usually installed in place of existing deflector rolls.
■Suitability
BFI rolls are manufactured individually in diameters from 200 to 600 mm and can therefore be integrated into any rolling mill instead of deflector rolls. The outer surface of the roll body is completely homogeneous and can be resharpened on a standard roll sander. The width of the measurement zone can be freely selected from 17mm or more. The number of zones can be adjusted to suit the specific needs of your application.
Vollmer offers profilometer rolls in a variety of surface finishes including steel, tungsten carbide, plastic, and chrome. We also offer special solutions for measuring wedge material strips. It ensures that the flatness of the strip is measured accurately even if the strip is subjected to lateral stresses during rolling.
■Compatible with digitalization
The BFI roll profile measurement system can be easily integrated into your digital world. Communication with the factory process control system is via TCP/IP. Software parameterization and display design are web-based. Measurement data can be viewed on any device with a web browser (PC, notebook, tablet, smartphone, etc.) that is in the same network as the geometry computer.
■Measurement principle - detailed technology
BFI shape rolls use piezoelectric gauges distributed across the width. The piezoelectric gauge is mounted on a shaft inside the roll surface. The tension generated in the axial direction by the strip passing over the shaping roll is measured with a piezoelectric gauge.
■Eternal reliability
Detected signals are transferred and processed accurately without any slip rings. Maintenance is also easier because there are no slip rings. Sensors can be easily replaced in the field. BFI shape rolls do not require utilities such as air or water.
