About This Product

■Characteristics

・A colorless octahedral crystal whose surface weathers and becomes translucent in the atmosphere. ・It does not dissolve in alcohol, but gradually dissolves in glycerin. ・The aqueous solution becomes acidic (1% solution pH=3.5) due to hydrolysis, has astringent properties, and coagulates proteins. ・When heated, crystal water is gradually released, and by 300℃, it is completely dehydrated to become a dry product (calcined ammonium alum), and when further heated, ammonium sulfate [(NH4) 2SO4] is released between 400℃ and 550℃. At around 650℃, sulfur dioxide gas begins to decompose and release, and thermal decomposition is completed at around 950℃, turning into aluminum oxide (Al2O3). ・Dry product (calcined ammonium alum) gradually dissolves in water and is hygroscopic, absorbing moisture from the air and returning to AlNH4 (SO4) 2.12H2O.

■Applications and usage examples

・Pickled eggplant: 2-4g of alum per 1kg of eggplant ・Immerse eggplant in 0.5% alum aqueous solution to prevent boiled eggplant from collapsing. ・Immersion in 0.05% alum aqueous solution ・Improve crispness Dissolve 2-3g of alum in 1 liter of water ・Fishery processing (octopus, etc.) Soaked in 0.1% alum aqueous solution ・Dyeing: Immersion in 1% alum aqueous solution ・Flower arrangement immersed in 0.01% alum aqueous solution ・The contents described are general usage examples and do not guarantee safety, efficacy or efficacy.

■Handling precautions

・Since it easily absorbs moisture, odor, and color, keep it isolated and stored tightly closed. ・The aqueous solution is acidic and will corrode metals such as iron, so be careful with the container. ・For other details, please refer to the SDS.
