About This Product

ELF/BEAM is charged particle trajectory analysis software. It calculates the trajectories of charged particles in electromagnetic fields calculated by ELF/MAGIC or ELFIN.

■ No spatial mesh required

The electric and magnetic fields along the charged particle trajectory are calculated directly from the source, so there is no need to create a spatial mesh.

■ High-precision spatial electric and magnetic fields

- The finite element method (FEA) calculates spatial electric and magnetic fields from the spatial mesh potential, which results in a loss of accuracy. However, ELF/BEAM calculates the electric and magnetic fields directly from the source, ensuring accuracy. - The electric and magnetic fields generated by the source are calculated using analytical integral formulas. Therefore, the electric and magnetic fields are highly accurate up to the element boundaries. - High-precision electric and magnetic fields can be used to perform high-precision charged particle trajectory analysis. This enables accurate analysis of sputtering, CRTs, and other phenomena.

■ Integration with ELF/MAGIC and ELFIN

- Calculates the trajectories of charged particles in magnetic fields. (ELF/MAGIC + ELF/BEAM) - Calculates the trajectory of a charged particle in an electric field. (ELFIN + ELF/BEAM) - Calculates the trajectory of a charged particle in both electric and magnetic fields. (ELF/MAGIC + ELFIN + ELF/BEAM)

■ Trajectory Calculation Method

Choose from Euler's method, the fourth-order Runge-Kutta method, or ELF's proprietary method. ELF's proprietary method incorporates numerous innovations to enable highly accurate calculations in a short calculation time. For comparable results, ELF's proprietary method is the fastest.

■ Relativistic Effects

Uses the formula for longitudinal and transverse mass. High-accuracy calculations are possible up to speeds approaching the speed of light.

■ Space Charge Effects

The Coulomb interaction between charged particles can be taken into account. A linear charge is placed on the trajectory of the charged particle, and calculations are repeated while taking into account the electric field created by that linear charge to calculate the charged particle's trajectory. The output provides the position, velocity, and acceleration of a charged particle.
