■Research and development using biRAPID to bring products to market “fast” (RAPID)

Prototyping and manufacturing power electronics equipment requires a lot of know-how, effort, time, and money. In recent years, semiconductors that operate at high speeds such as SiC and GaN are often used, making the design significantly more difficult. Even after painstaking design and prototyping, if a malfunction occurs due to noise, it will be necessary to design and prototype again, which will take even more time. In the development of power electronics, we have prepared a product called ``biRAPID'' that realizes rapid prototyping, a development method for rapidly creating prototype models of products. Using biRAPID, you can speed up the feedback cycle of planning, design, and prototyping.

This controller board is equipped with 12 gate signal outputs, can generate a variety of pulse patterns using TI's high-performance microcontroller and Xilinx's FPGA, and can drive two three-phase inverters at the same time. It has a compact design with a footprint of A6 size or less, making it suitable for both development and integration. Also equipped with 12-bit AD conversion and CAN communication functions.

■Main functions

・PWM generation 12 lines: Complementary PWM generation function with dead time. Carrier waveform can be selected from triangle wave, sawtooth wave, and reverse sawtooth wave ・Digital input/output 16 channels each: isolated general-purpose digital input/output function ・AD conversion 16ch: 12-bit AD conversion function. Equipped with two types: built-in microcontroller and FPGA processing, which can be used separately. ・Comparator function 8ch: Compare the input signal voltage with the upper and lower limits, and operate the gate block when the range is exceeded. ・General-purpose LED yellow 4ch/red 4ch: General-purpose LED that can be operated with a built-in program ・General-purpose dip switch 4ch: General-purpose dip switch that can be read by built-in program ・Start-stop synchronous serial communication 3ch: RS485, RS232C, USBUART can be used ・CAN communication 2ch: CAN communication function isolated from inside the board ・EEPROM 512kbit: EEPROM that can be used from embedded programs via I2C connection
