As part of its efforts to eliminate drunk driving, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism requires transportation companies to use breathalyzers to check whether drivers are under the influence of alcohol. The GRUS alcohol checker displays the alcohol concentration in 1 liter of breath as stipulated by the Road Traffic Act.
■Traffic accidents caused by constant drunk driving
Only cars with green license plates were checked for drunk driving using breathalyzers. However, from October 2022, companies with five or more white-numbered cars will also be required to conduct checks using breathalyzers. *Due to the recent semiconductor shortage, it is believed that the supply of breathalyzers will not be in time, so this mandate has actually been postponed.
The reason behind this strengthening of the alcohol check system is the constant number of tragic traffic accidents caused by drunk driving. Safe driving managers are required to establish a management system that does not omit any checks in order to prevent traffic accidents from occurring at the workplace.
■Display suitable for use in Japan
Gurus Alcohol Checker displays the alcohol concentration in 1 liter of exhaled breath. This is the same unit used in the Road Traffic Act. On the other hand, alcohol checkers that display blood alcohol concentration are also available. In this case, the measured blood alcohol concentration must be converted to breath alcohol concentration. The LCD display is in Japanese, and the sensor can be used approximately 3000 times.
■Easy operation and notification of measurement results on the spot
Press and hold the button to turn on the power and begin measurement preparation. After 15 seconds of measurement preparation, the measurement will begin. Blow your exhaled air onto the measurement area for about 3 to 5 seconds. If alcohol is detected, you will be notified of the measurement result with a beep and display.
